People, and friends, past and future…you are not going to convince me to do anything with my vote other than what I am doing or choose to do with it. My vote is my choice & my voice in the election. You cannot force me to chorus or echo your sound. If I choose to do something with my voice…it is my decision.
As a matter of fact, don’t even ask me about the election if you’re unable to discuss it without anger or name-calling when I don’t agree with you, or view something the way you do.
If that’s the way you see it…that’s the way you see it.![]()
I don’t. And that’s okay because it’s my choice. And it is your choice also.
Since Barack won his first election America (especially organized religion), has had to come face to face with deep seated unconscious drivers that went previously challenged, allowing the carrier blissful ignorance. Which biblically is cool because Paul had grace when his dead- wrongness was driven by ignorance.
But be aware, cognitive dissonance isn’t ignorance. It is a choice.
The main thing is the fact that people really don’t want it to change. Often staging it’s for religious reasons but the book says the king’s heart is in his hand so if we’re praying then we wouldn’t even have to fear who’s in office; but I digress.
I don’t want to go back. I don’t want to go back to the Walkman- I like YouTube, I like Bluetooth. I don’t want to go back to requiring a man to approve/cosign so that I can open a bank account. I don’t want to go back to Blockbuster… I like Amazon Prime.
Now you may say that that’s oh so long ago. But the ’70s were just a blink of an eye of ago.
But even more recent, in a more fresher “go back” window of time- I don’t want to go back to Sandra Bland, George Floyd and so many others becoming victims of police with no justice because changing police immunity may lose the little ground it has gained. Or the fact that I fly more now because sundown towns were revitalized during a recent presidency and now a simple drive-through some of my neighboring states has returned to being a safety concern. I do not want to go back to being unseen, unheard and un-SAFE.
I don’t want to go back to losing family members to COVID, to “black jobs” the way former President Trump really meant them, to redlining and discriminatory housing practices, ,etc….You understand, don’t you?
Of course you do.
Which is why it’s cognitive dissonance and NO LONGER ignorance. It is a choice.
I don’t want to go back.
Would you truly ask me to? If so, why?
