Brilliant Jerk? Or Committed Team Member?

“Great minds don’t always think alike. They challenge each other to think differently.” – Author Unknown

In my morning read today (Glazer, Friday Forward #449 “Right Style”), I was reminded of J. Ross and I’s presentation at HSPA 2024 in Las Vegas. The topic was working with difficult team members and the content expounded on the fact that ‘difficult’ is not always negative, discipline is not always punitive. And neither is always lazy, oppositional, or full of incivility.

It is often high performers, or even leadership that is considered difficult due to desiring higher standards and accountability within an organization. Glazer’s article did a really nice job of differentiating between a brilliant jerk and a substance over style committed team member.

It you are in leadership, his article is definitely worth the read. The link is in the comments below.
