It’s 2024.
And people are still polarized about what some fight to ignore and thus get upset when others don’t, and that that others daily have to navigate embedded deep into the systems (financial, religion, healthcare-including mental, educational, POLITICAL and social).
People fight the word racism so much. Yet less is to counter or reject the actual racism.
Personal Racism: personal choice, you get to choose because that’s what choices are…
Systemic Racism: A SYSTEM of choices designed to prevent all people from having choice. Or more accurately spoken; Voice.
Letter from a Birmingham Jail… None of us is one-dimensional. Let’s celebrate more than the ‘I have a dream’ words. He had a dream but he lived a nightmare. This man encouraged so many while being abused, arrested, threatened, maligned, and murdered.
But still not silenced.
Let that sink in. Different times handle/approach things differently. Whatever your approach, do not be silenced. In your industry, in your community, and especially not in your government. You should always a voice in what governs you. It’s ‘your choice.’ Just like this post being so concise and direct is mine today, as a melanated woman (we should have coffee and talk about it one day 🙂 ).
Respect to Martin Luther King being willing to live like he did, under the pressure that he did, so that could live like he didn’t. Couldn’t. Or wasn’t allowed…remember yall:
